How I used Vocational Astrology on myself
I’ve known for awhile that my current work configuration wasn’t working for me and felt the same way a lot of my clients do when they come to see me - stuck, confused, and frustrated. I knew I needed to change what I was doing for my paid work outside of astrology but I didn’t know what to even look for as I was scrolling through job sites. After lamenting to my partner about this over and over, he finally asked me - “what would you say yourself if you were a client? what does your chart say?” Aha! It was time for a “healer, heal thyself” moment.
So I took a big step aside from my feelings about the situation and what I thought I knew about my own vocation and I studied my chart with fresh eyes. What would I suggest to someone else who was looking for a new day job and had a Virgo Midheaven and the ruler of the 6th house, Venus, in the 8th house?
Someone with a Virgo Midheaven is good at organizing information and has a keen eye for accuracy, analysis, and finding patterns. It’s part of why I love Vocational Astrology specifically - it’s like solving a puzzle.
Wherever the ruler of the 6th house is located indicates what kind of work environment or daily tasks are suitable. I have Venus in Cancer in the 8th house, a placement that indicates an ability to hold space and care for the messy depths of being a human. This is part of what I already do as an astrologer, but what else could I enjoy doing everyday?
And then it clicked. The 8th house also has to do with debt, taxes, and working with other people’s money. I remembered that all my favorite tasks in every role I’ve had were related to data entry and I always geeked out on analyzing the financial reports. What job would allow me to do just those things? Bookkeeping!
It is such a relief to find a new direction to put my vocational energy into and has made my current day job more tolerable knowing that my time there is finite (this was always true but it’s hard to believe when I didn’t know what could be next) So I’m taking Quickbooks courses online and networking with bookkeepers I know to learn all about the trade.
If you feel like it’s time to change your day job or your career and are unsure of what to pursue and overwhelmed by all the options, let’s chat about your chart!
